Why is Anita running for the Minnesota State Senate?

It's time for a change

Are you tired of all the division? The inability of our current leaders to listen to one another and to work together for all Minnesotans?

I am, and that is why I'm running for Minnesota State Senate, District 15.

I am running because I am a connector -- a “do-er” -- who will bridge the divide. I will negotiate with people to find solutions that work best for all. I am a farm kid who moved to the “big city” and has returned to her rural roots. I will work to bridge the divide between urban and rural.

I am running because I listen to and learn from others. I don’t pretend to have all the answers. Modern problems are complex, and I will do my research and seek input not only from my Minnesota Senate colleagues but from experts and stakeholders. On a proposed bill involving the agriculture industry, I will connect with farmers and ag service providers in my district to solicit their views. A proposed bill about healthcare? I will meet with medical providers, administrators, and community members to discuss the pros and cons. Proposed legislation on education will find me consulting with local teachers, administrators, parents, and students to see how changes would impact our schools.

My philosophy: Talk to the people who know.
I am running because I am honest and genuine. If you ask me a question, I will answer you plainly and directly, not in a vague way that doesn’t respond to your question. If I don’t know, I will say so, but I will also follow up with you once I have found your answer.

I am running because I “work, and work hard” as my father and grandfather taught me growing up on our family farm. No one will work harder to represent the people of District 15 than me.
You may be a lifelong DFL voter, or you may never have voted for a DFL candidate or even considered it before now.

But we all need to work together now more than ever.

It’s time to vote for Anita Gaul.

Like you, I am frustrated by the current state of politics. Growing up, I was taught not to complain about things, but do something about them. I get things done.
